Music Memories

My cousin had an unique baby shower. Her and her husband not only invited friends and relatives, but spouses, significant others and children. It was a beautiful day and they turned this baby shower into a pool and barbecue party.

It really was a good time and I thought it was a great idea. As the hours passed, the music turned a bit nostalgic. We're an Italian family and out of the stereo speakers were old Italian songs blasting. Some made famous by ole blues eyes, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. As the songs played, we all had a 'moment'. One by one you can see the look of recognition as a song came on that brought back a memory. I was even saying...I remember when...
My parents, aunts and uncles always had these songs playing.

Before you knew it, we were all laughing and singing and dancing to the tunes. I asked my cousin which CD was playing because my Mom and I particularly liked the Dean Martin songs. She told me is was Martin Sands, which is a live performance, known to be an historic event at the Sands. Let me explain that this CD was not just music, it was comedy. Dean Martin's jokes and comments had us all hysterical. His style was unique and there will never be another entertainer like him.

Due to the arrival of my first niece/goddaughter, I wanted to easily capture the precious moments of her life. Film her as she develops her personality, her first smile, takes her first steps. I now can take as many shots as I want using different angles and poses. I enter the date and time, so I can organize and locate the pictures later on. When the cameras internal buffer is full, I just transfer to my memory card. This is a wonderful thing! I can't believe I waited this long to go digital.

With my conventional camera, I had to finish the roll of film and then take it to get developed. Sometimes that took a while and on several occasions, I was so anxious to see the pictures taken, I wasted a few shots just to get them quickly developed. It was also a hassle to send pictures through email and share with family and friends.

Now, with my digital, I can easily and immediately view these moments. Print them when I want. Having family who live miles away, We can stay connected through these images. Sharing in email is so much easier. Glad I finally went digital

Black Friday is Coming...Are you Prepared?

It is hard to believe in just 3 short months, it will be Black Friday. One of the biggest shopping days of the year. I cannot believe I am already thinking about holiday shopping, but I am trying to be more organized this year.

In the weeks preceding Black Friday, I tell myself I WILL get up early and get to the stores before the herds of people arrive. I will get all my holiday shopping done and save money purchasing the special sale items that entice you into the stores.

What happens is...the night before, I ask myself.."are you crazy?" getting up at dawn, driving in the traffic that already is bumper to bumper, only to get stuck on huge lines and fight with others grabbing at the same items.
Not this time!

The advantage to this being you see the ads before anyone else does. No waiting for your newspaper to arrive.

I remember going into Best Buy for gifts last year. Those of you who are not familiar with Best Buy,it is the number one specialty store for electronics, computers, TV's and entertainment software. When I arrived at the store, it was so crowded and it was impossible to look at the computer items I wanted to see. The music section was more crowded. I felt bad for the sales representatives; being yelled at, people being very impatient waiting for their turn.

A New Approach To Landscape ~ Fake Rocks

With summer soon coming to a close, I am looking forward to doing the landscape projects I have put off due to the hot weather.

I have a friend who is a landscape contractor and together we are going over my options. I would like to bring in some natural elements and create a focal point with boulders surrounding a small pond. My yard doesn't allow for heavy equipment and my funds are limited, so he suggested an alternative solution to my boulder idea.
