Is Your Glass Always Half Full?

There is a good side to every situation.
View your problems as opportunities.

You cannot have the success without the failures.
Any experience can be transformed into something of value.
Everything depends on the way you look at things.

What are stumbling blocks and defeat before you can be stepping
stones to victory if you remain determined.

In all of your adversities lies the seeds of equivalent advantages.
In every defeat there is a lesson showing you how to win the next time.

When it's dark enough you can see the stars.

Something To Think About

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

A sharp tongue can cut your own throat.

If you want your dreams to come true, you mustn't oversleep.

Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important.

The best vitamin for making friends..... B1.

The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.

The heaviest thing you can carry is a grudge.

One thing you can give and still keep...is your word.

You lie the loudest when you lie to yourself
If you lack the courage to start, you have already finished.
One thing you can't recycle is wasted time.
Ideas won't work unless ' You' do.

Your mind is like a parachute....it functions only when open..

The 10 commandments are not a multiple choice.

The pursuit of happiness is the chase of a lifetime! It is never too late to become what you might have been.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right.. Forget about the one's who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

8 Steps to Happiness AND Success

Success and happiness does not just happen by accident. It takes action and planning. Success at any thing you do is the direct result of deliberate planning, conscious effort and calculated decisions.

Happiness needs to be cultivated, prepared for and defended individually. You must learn to set goals that will make you happy.

What does success and happiness mean to you?

Do you?
1. know what you are reaching for.
2. organize your thoughts.
3. provide a guide to follow.
4. enforce commitment.
5. prioritize your goals.
6. think about setting realistic limits.
7. take a moment now to plan for tomorrow.
8. chart your course of action.

LOVE WHAT YOU DO, OR DO SOMETHING ELSE

You'll never achieve real success
unless you like what you're doing.
No one has ever succeeded in a line
of endeavor which they did not like.

Your chances of success are directly proportional
to the degree of pleasure you derive from what you do.
If you're in a job you hate, face the fact squarely and get out.

It's better to be a failure in something you love,
than attempting to be a success in something you don't.

Don't set compensation as a goal.
Find the work you love, and the compensation will follow.

The more you love what you are doing,
the more successful it will be for you.

A Bag of Cookies

Here's a story to make one think...

A young lady was waiting for her flight in the boarding room of a big airport.

As she would need to wait many hours, she decided to buy a book to spend her time. She also bought a pack of cookies.

She sat down in the chair, in the VIP room of the airport, to rest and read in peace.

Beside the armchair where the pack of cookies lay, a man sat down in the next seat. He opened his magazine and started to read.

When she took out the first cookie, the man took one also. She felt irritated, but said nothing. She just thought…What a nerve! If I was in the mood I would punch him for daring!

For each cookie she took, the man took one. This was infuriating her, but she didn’t want to cause a scene.

When only one cookie remained, she thought…ah, What will this abusive man do now?
Then, the man, taking the last cookie, divided it into half, giving her one half.

Ah, that was too much. She was much too angry now. In a huff, she took her book, her things and stormed to the boarding place.

When she sat down in her seat, inside the plane, she looked into her purse to take her eyeglasses out and to her surprise, her pack of cookies was there. Untouched and unopened!

She felt so ashamed. She realized that she was wrong…She had forgotten that her cookies were kept in her purse.

That man had divided his cookies with her, without feeling angered or bitter.

While she had been angry, thinking that she was dividing her cookies with him. And now there was no chance to explain herself…nor apologize.

There are 4 things you cannot recover:
The stone…after the throw
The word…after it is said
The occasion…after the loss
The time…after it’s gone

Create a Healthier Environment

Spring is here! Now is the time to declutter your life, get organized and live in a healthier environment. Do the things you need to do and enjoy the most to live a healthier and happier life.

Do you have clutter at home?

Organize one room at a time. Start with anything stacked on the floor and then work up to the things stacked on the surfaces…tables, shelves etc… Before you decide to throw out an item, think about donating the item instead. What is garbage to one person, may be a treasure to another.

Go through your closets, handbags and accessories. If you haven’t worn it in a year, get rid of it. When tackling your dresser drawers, avoid having a ‘junk’ drawer. I can’t seem to get rid of mine! Go through one drawer at a time and discard any items you no longer use.

Having less clutter in your living space, makes for a cleaner, healthier home environment.

Do you have clutter in your life?

List the areas in your life that you have committed your time. Do you enjoy all you have committed to? List which things you enjoy doing and which things add value to your life. Delete the rest or learn to say 'no'.

Planning ahead also makes room in your life. Schedule those annual doctor visits in the beginning of the year. It's not too late...do it now.

Try running all your errands at one time. This will take less time away from you. Scattering them through out the week can just be tiring and may make your schedule each night feel more hectic.

If you commit to a little time to de-clutter your life, you will find you feel healthier with better surroundings, better organization and be more productive.

THE SECRET TO CONFIDENCE IS PREPARATION

With practice you'll come to a point of competence.
You'll find yourself accomplishing your goals gracefully
and confidently.

It's then that you'll do things that you never dreamed you could do.

You'll discover powers you never knew existed.

If you're prepared, you're able to feel confident.
There can be no great courage when there is no confidence or assurance.
Half the battle is in the conviction that you can accomplish what you undertake.

Confidence doesn't come out of nowhere.
It's the result of constant work and dedication.

SLOW DANCE

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say,'Hi'
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift..
Thrown away.
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music

Before the song is over.

Mental Feng Shui

There is some mighty fine advice in these words. This is considered to be the 'Lotus Touts' and origniated from the Anthony Robbins organization.

ONE... Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

TWO... Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.

THREE... Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.

FOUR... When you say, 'I love you,' mean it.

FIVE... When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look the person in the eye.

SIX... Be engaged at least six months before you get married.

SEVEN... Believe in love at first sight.

NINE... Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.

TEN... In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling..

ELEVEN... Don't judge people by their relatives.

TWELVE... Talk slowly but think quickly.

THIRTEEN... When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'

FOURTEEN... Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

FIFTEEN... Say 'bless you' when you hear someone sneeze.

SIXTEEN... When you lose, don't lose the lesson.

SEVENTEEN... Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.

EIGHTEEN... Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

NINETEEN... When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

TWENTY... Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.

TWENTY- ONE... Spend some time alone.

What is Feng Shui?

You have probably heard of Feng Shui, but do you really know what it is?

Feng Shui is an ancient art and science developed in China more than 3,000 years ago. Feng Shui teaches us how to attract and enhance our life energy. You can accomplish this by balancing the energies of any space to bring you good health and good fortune.

Feng means wind and shui means water. Within the Chinese culture, wind and water have always been associated with good harvest and good health.

So, good feng shui means good fortune and bad fend shui means hardship or misfortune.

Did you know there are Financial power spots within any space?

Prosperity issues are associated with the back left corner of any space. If you stand at your front door and face into the house ~ your wealth area is at the back of the house on the left-hand side.

To find the wealth area of any room:: facing in from the doorway, it's the corner area in the back of the room on the left-hand side.

Will you find and locate the wealth areas at your office, living room, kitchen, and/or bedroom? Now that you can find your money power spots, here are some tips to apply feng shui to those areas:

Clean out any clutter. Getting rid of clutter is one of the most powerful ways to shift energy and allow the energy to move freely.

Fix anything that is broken. If it doesn’t work and if you can’t fix it, remove them so the money spots will work properly.

Use symbols of prosperity. A bowl of coins that you add your spare change into it every day, a "lucky bamboo" plant, or anything that symbolizes success and prosperity to you.

Use colors green and purple. Green symbolizes vitality and growth and purple is the color of wealth

If you neglect your money, it will neglect you, so balance your checkbook monthly and pay your bills on time

Clean the clutter out of your purse and wallet. If your money is not organized and is just crunched any old way, it will be as though you don’t value money.

Take a few moments every day to think about all the good things that happened to you and express gratitude for what you have received.

Live generously. Since money is a form of energy, it needs to flow through your life, not just into it. If you hoard and scrimp, it will work against more money coming in. Giving generously within your means will make space for greater abundance. If you don't have money to share, give as generously as you can of your time, energy, compassion, and appreciation.

The Feng Shui wealth area is considered "fortunate blessings”. The more you notice, appreciate, and express gratitude for blessings received, no matter how small, the more good things will come your way, including money.

Go to Mind, Body & Soul for a 4 part series about Feng Shui and learn how Feng Shui can work for you.

THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS TO SUCCESS

Whatever you want in life, you must give up something to get it.
The greater the value, the greater the sacrifice required of you.
Everything has a price.

There's a price to pay if you want to make things better,
and a price to pay for just leaving things as they are.

Nothing worthwhile ever comes easily.
Work, continuous work and hard work, is the only way to accomplish
results that last.
Use your imagination more than your memory to achieve success.

There is no success at bargain basement prices.
The highway to success is a toll road.

Being Thankful on Thanksgiving

Today as we celebrate Thanksgiving with our families and friends, will you truly take time out to reflect on what you are thankful for?

I have been doing that quite often this year. Pretty much on a daily basis...being thankful. For my health, for my life, for all I have, my family and friends, the opportunities that come my way and the love that surrounds me.

Abundance can be brought into your life if you declare to the universe that you are thankful. This can easily be done on a daily basis. I find that I'm in a better mood when I take time to appreciate something that makes me happy and be thankful for it. My heart seems to fill with happiness...

What are you thankful for?

I think many, many people take for granted what they have in their life. Maybe focusing only on the negatives...the problems, the stresses, the little things that may annoy or aggravate you. We might forget what we have and appreciate them.

Count your blessings. Take a moment each day and be thankful for something in your life. As you're driving in your car or sitting quietly by yourself, even while watching TV... just take a minute and be thankful.

As you see something that excites you or makes you feel good, as you smell food cooking, drive to work, come home to family, enjoying the company of friends or even your pet, your many possessions, your health and so on...be thankful!

Some people are not blessed as you and I are. Many have worse problems or live in worse conditions and/or simply do not have all that we have.

Take a break during your day...starting today...and be thankful and count your blessings...ask the universe for more of what makes you happy. Be positive and say...I like this...bring more more!

May you all enjoy your Thanksgiving. Many blessings to you all

THE KEY TO YOUR SUCCESS IS IN YOUR HANDS

You cannot do everything, but you can do something.

Only you can make it happen.
No one can do it for you.
No one will do it for you.

Always accept the responsibility for your actions.
Always set a higher standard for yourself.

Choose the thoughts and actions that will lead

Your success is but a determined action away...

To The Good Ole Days...

After reading this, I found myself nodding my head...remembering my childhood, remembering the memories. I think there is something so truthful about these statements. The children of today might not get to experience life in this way and it's a shame. I hope you enjoy reading this. There are life lessons in each statement.

Here is a pretty neat little thing from Paul Harvey, a radio personality.
Paul Harvey Writes:

We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse. For my grandchildren, I'd like better.
I'd really like for them to know about hand me down clothes and homemade ice cream and leftover meat loaf sandwiches. I really would.

I hope you learn humility by being humiliated, and that you learn honesty by being cheated.
I hope you learn to make your own bed and mow the lawn and wash the car.
And I really hope nobody gives you a brand new car when you are sixteen.

It will be good if at least one time you can see puppies born and your old dog put to sleep.

I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in..

I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother/sister. And it's all right if you have to draw a line down the middle of the room, but when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because he's scared, I hope you let him.

When you want to see a movie and your little brother/sister wants to tag along, I hope you'll let him/her.
I hope you have to walk uphill to school with your friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely.

On rainy days when you have to catch a ride, I hope you don't ask your driver to drop you two blocks away so you won't be seen riding with someone as uncool as your Mom.

If you want a slingshot, I hope your Dad teaches you how to make one instead of buying one.
I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books.

When you learn to use computers, I hope you also learn to add and subtract in your head.

I hope you get teased by your friends when you have your first crush on a boy\girl, and when you talk back to your mother that you learn what Ivory soap tastes like.

May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on a stove and stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole.

I don't care if you try a beer once, but I hope you don't like it.. And if a friend offers you dope or a joint, I hope you realize he is not your friend.

I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your Grandma/Grandpa and go fishing with your Uncle.

May you feel sorrow at a funeral and joy during the holidays.

I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a baseball through your neighbour's window and that she hugs you and kisses you at Hannukah/Christmas time when you give her a plaster mold of your hand.

These things I wish for you - tough times and disappointment, hard work and happiness. To me, it's the only way to appreciate life.

So...do you agree?

The Only Thing That Is Truly Yours is Your Attitude

I found the below story in my email inbox. I enjoyed it so much, I thought it was worth sharing. It's a great motivator and proves once again that your attitude truly does matter in your life...

Jerry is the manager of a restaurant. He is always in a good mood.

When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would always reply:

'If I were any better, I would be twins!'

Many of the waiters at his restaurant quit their jobs when he changed jobs,

so they could follow him around from restaurant to restaurant

Why?

Because Jerry was a natural motivator.

If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was always there, telling him how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him

'I don't get it! No one can be a positive person all of the time.. How do you do it?'

Jerry replied, 'Each morning I wake up and say to myself, I have two choices today. I can choose to be in a good mood or I can choose to be in a bad mood.

I always choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be victim or I can choose to learn from it. I always choose to learn from it.

Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I always choose the positive side of life.'

'But it's not always that easy,' I protested.

'Yes it is,' Jerry said.

'Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk every situation is a choice.

You choose how you react to situations.. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood..

It's your choice how you live your life..'

Several years later, I heard that Jerry accidentally did something you are never supposed to do in the restaurant business.

He left the back door of his restaurant open. And then in the morning, he was robbed by three armed men.

While Jerry trying to open the safe box, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him.

Luckily, Jerry was found quickly and rushed to the hospital.

After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body..

I saw Jerry about six months after the accident.

When I asked him how he was, he replied, 'If I were any better, I'd be twins. Want to see my scars?'

I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place.

'The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door,' Jerry replied.

'Then, after they shot me, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or could choose to die. I chose to live.'
'Weren't you scared' I asked?

Jerry continued, 'The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine.

But when they wheeled me into the Emergency Room and I saw the expression on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared.

In their eyes, I read 'He's a dead man..

I knew I needed to take action.'
'What did you do?' I asked.

'Well, there was a big nurse shouting questions at me,' said Jerry. 'She asked if I was allergic to anything.'

'Yes,' to bullets, I replied.

Over their laughter, I told them: 'I am choosing to live. Please operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.'

'Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude.

I learned from him that every day you have the choice to either enjoy your life or to hate it.

The only thing that is truly yours - that no one can control or take from you
is your attitude, so if you can take care of that, everything else in life becomes much easier.
