Theodore Roosevelt's Ideas On Immigrants

What Theodore Roosevelt said about being an AMERICAN and what it means back in 1907.

'In the first place, we should insist that if the
immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and
assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality
with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any
such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is
predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and
nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any
man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an
American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We
have room for but one language here, and that is the English
language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a
loyalty to the American people.'

Coupons DO Save You Money

I've become an avid online shopper. I haven't gone into the malls in a long time.

It all started back in November when I came across Black-Friday.net, which offers you access to all the coupons for Black Friday, the biggest shopping sale day of the year. On cyber monday you get to view these sales ads and coupons before anyone else. I knew the ads and coupons were posted because I received an email alert. This saved me a whole lot of time and alot of money. I was also able to plan out my shopping and decide which holiday gifts I was buying for who. Due to the savings from using the coupons and knowing where the sales where, I spent less this year than I did last year.

Since then, I visit the site regularly to grab discount coupons for all the stores I know I'll be purchasing from. If you want to save some money, I suggest you remember to look for a coupon to use at checkout. Saving $10 here, $20 there, free shipping...it adds up. Why would I shop at the malls? It takes little time, in the convenience of my home and the product is shipping right to my door!

I recently saved $70 when I purchased a hammock from JC Penneys. The hammock was on sale and then I used a coupon for free shipping. The time saved, the money saved AND I saved my back from hauling the huge box. UPS delivered this right to my door in 3 days. I was so satisfied and happy I shopped online.

Black-Friday.net store list:

AAFES ,AceHardware.com,Amazon.com,Babies R Us,Bass Pro Shops,BestBuy,BJ's,Boscovs,Buckle.com,Buy.com,Circuit City , CompUSA,Costco,CVS,Disney Store,EBgames,Finish Line ,Fred's GameStop,Harbor Freight,hhgregg,Home Depot,Ikea,JC Penney ,JoAnn Fabrics,Jos. A Bank,J&R,KBtoys.com,Kmart,Kohls,Lane Bryant
Linens-N-Things, Macys,Meijer,Menards ,Micro Center ,Newegg.com
Office Depot,OfficeMax,Old Navy,Overstock.com,Pacific Sunwear PepBoys,Radio Shack,Ritz Camera,Sam's Club,Sears,ShopKo
Staples,Target,TigerDirect,Tommy Hilfiger,Toys R Us,Toys R Us Big Toy Book,Tractor Supply Company,Value City,Walmart

Why don't you go to Black-Friday.net now...bookmark the site and 'remember' to use the coupons they offer. Times are getting tough and our budgets may be smaller. Using this site and the coupons they offer will help when you need to purchase an item. And, as the months pass leading into the fall, remember to use the site for the sales on Black Friday. You will be happy you did...

What Type of Decision Maker Are You?

Decision making is something that each of us are faced with on a daily basis.

According to About.com, Decision makers can be categorized in three groups. These groups correlate with a traffic stoplight.

Red lights - These are individuals who often feel frozen in fear when faced with making a decision. They are resistant to change and have great difficulty making decisions. They tend to have to have the rug pulled out from under them before they will move to safer ground.

Yellow lights - These people are caution oriented individuals who will look both ways before venturing into the traffic. They will weigh the pros and cons of any given situation before deciding.

Green lights - Here are the adventuresome type. They leap without looking, figuring that all will go well (they have the right-of-way after all). These people could use a refresher course in defensive driving as they do get themselves in sticky predicaments at times.

Tips To Be Sucessful With Your Business

If you are trying to earn a part-time or full time income on the
Internet, you have to be serious and treat this venture as a business.
You need to focus on creating the revenue.

Staying focused means sticking to one idea. So many people have all
these great ideas running through their head, but in the end, you may
feel frustrated when you don't see results from the time spent trying
to maintain all your ideas. Developing one idea fully, building
creditability is a good idea before moving on to your next idea.

Research your idea. Is your product or service in demand? Why spend any
amount of time on something that people do not want? This will save you
valuable time and money.

Start small and build up your business. Let's face it...you're not
going to get rich overnight. Find your niche and go after the smaller
market. Your reputation will grow. While others are heading right to
the bigger markets, grab a piece of the smaller market.

Don't forget that building any type of business will take time. If you
are wanting to earn money from even a blog, it takes time to build up
your blog, bring in the traffic. Be patient. Don't walk away too soon,
even if you don't see income right away.

Is your blog or website filled with unnecessary design work, graphics
or advertisements? Ever hear the saying...less is more? Wasting money
on all the bells and whistles may not be where you want to spend your
start up money. You can always do a make over on your site at a later
date.It can be inexpensive to get a quality site up and running.

A better use for your money may be to buy marketing training programs
and software tools that will provide you with education and help you to
grow your business faster.

Memorial Day

Let's take a minute (just ONE minute) to observe Memorial Day. As you read this post, remember....

Memorial Day is a United States Federal Holiday that is observed on the last Monday of May. It was formerly known as Decoration Day. This holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country. It began first to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War. After World War I, it was expanded to include those who died in any war or military action.

I AM taking the time to remember my relatives, my friends and YOURS who have died while serving our country. I am also thinking about the men and women serving in the military right now.

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Replying To Comments

My friend Ajay visited me here yesterday and commented on one of my posts. He brought something to my attention.

My regular readers are aware that I have been recuperating from an illness over the last 2 months. I had been away from my blogs for about a month. As I begin to feel better, I am getting back to my blogs...writing regularly and trying to keep up. I wanted to first start on providing content and information...

The one thing I have failed to do is respond to the many comments I have received on posts. I am not trying to be rude, nor am I wanting to offend anyone. I truly appreciate and am thankful for the visits and comments left by visitors.

I wanted to apologize to anyone who may have felt slighted or ignored. The importance of my readers is very high and although I have not practiced what I have preached about 'following through', I just have been taking one step at a time to get back to my once normal routine.

I will make it a goal TODAY to answer ALL comments. Please bear with me on this journey of recovery.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Need To Get Motivated?

Have you ever felt that you had so much going on in your life that it sucks the energy out of you? I know when this happens to me, I'm probably trying to do too much at one time.

When we don't have the energy, we have no motivation. Without motivation, we probably can't focus on accomplishing anything.

Motivation can be powerful and moves you towards success and accomplishments in every area of your life. Motivation is a driving force. To accomplish anything, you need a driving force and desire. If you don't have these, nothing will happen

How We Can Get Motivated

1. Think, meditate and find out what it is you truly want to achieve. You need to have the desire to do something.
Do nothing for 15 minutes...This might be hard for some people. For me, it's hard to keep still, but I have found learning to be 'quiet' for a short period of time allows me to focus. Having a crazy week? or just one of those days? Doing nothing or sitting quietly will do wonders for clearing your head and reducing anxiety, so that you're motivated to tackle the next challenge.

2. Make your goal very clear. Think often about what you want to accomplish. Again, you need the desire to complete your goal.

3. If you need to motivate yourself to do something, pay attention to the self talk going on in your head. . Sometimes we have thoughts buzzing in our head about what we want to do or need to do, but we're not feeling particularly inspired to do anything about it. Talk to yourself the same way you would to a friend that needed to be inspired. If you're honest with yourself, you know there is a difference between what we hear ourselves saying in our head and how we speak to a friend or loved one to 'pump' them up.

Speak loudly with passion and excitement to yourself. The more energy you put into it, the easier it will be to light the fire inside you.

4. Visualize your goal as already being accomplished. Do not allow your inner voice to bring about any negative thoughts.

5.Think often about the benefits you will gain by achieving your goal.

6. Visualize and think about how great you will feel after achieving your goal.

7. Repeat affirmations such as: I have the desire and inner strength to achieve my goal. Repeat this affirmation often, with faith and strong feelings.

8. Start with doing something small concerning your goal.

9. Is your lack of motivation just really boredom? Sometimes when we do things the same way day after day, our brain tunes out. We all need growth and stimulation. Motivation can return when you feel inspired by other areas of your life.

How Green Are Exfoliants?

Exfoliants skin care products are very popular. I'm sure some of you use them like I do. My daily face wash contains micro beads that exfoliants.

Exfoliants comes in two forms: chemical and physical. Chemical exfoliants use...well... chemicals to dissolve the dead cells sitting on the surface of the skin. Physical exfoliants use abrasives to scrape way those cells.

According to FoxNews.com there are no required studies for personal care products and there are no safety systems in place, nor governing bodies overseeing the industry.

The ugly side of the beauty industry is money?

Most of the chemical peels use natural ingredients to eat away the dead skin. It does leave the skin with newer, healthier skin on the top layer.

There are few adverse effects on the environment, but they do leave people who use these types of exfoliants with a higher risk of sunburn and associated skin cancers.

Because of this, many now come with sunscreen built in. Many of the petroleum based sunscreens do have bad environments effects. The worse are the preservatives used, such as parabens and phthalates, which can disrupt reproduction.

With physical exfoliants, such as microdermabrsion, aluminum oxide crystals are used. These are harmless to humans, but after we're done washing our face, these crystals go down the drain, into sewers and into our water. These crystals are highly toxic to many species of aquatic organisms. In fish, the metal has been linked to birth defects, increased mortality and other complications. They also cause stunted root growth in plants.

Aluminum is regarded safe for humans in low quantities, except those on kidney dialysis and there may even be a link to Alzheimer's disease.

The manufacturing of these products releases tiny particles in the air, which can scar lung tissue and have led to tumors in animals.

Good news for our skin and our planet is there are many all organic products to chose from.

Do You Have a Late Personality?

Do you wait until the last minute?

Have you ever analyzed why you may have trouble being on time? There may be underlying issues to why you battle chronic lateness.

According to Dr. Gail Saltz, a TODAY Contributor at NBC, here are some of the main personality traits:?

Risk-takers:
These people are addicted to the thrill of leaving for their appointed destination only when they absolutely must. They don’t mind taking the risk of being late, because they don’t want to risk being early and waiting for others. This may be because deep-down they fear feeling rejected, if they wind up waiting for others.

Freedom-makers:
Those who felt trapped by authority as children often grow up to be “late-niks,” who use lateness to feel free. Their intense wish not to be controlled by others may be at the root of their lateness. Or they may have a rebellious nature that essentially tells others: “You will not tell me how to run my life and when I have to be somewhere.”

Organization-slackers: Another reason someone may be late is poor organizational skills. They have difficulty planning out a realistic schedule and calculating how long each of their tasks will take and how long it will take them to get to their appointments on time. These people generally have poor organizational skills, though they may be very intelligent.

Trouble-avoiders:
These people, unconsciously or even consciously, wish to avoid the people they are supposed to meet or the place where they are going. This may be the reason for their lateness. In these situations, lateness may be a form of passive-aggressive behavior. Since they’re angry that they must go to an appointment, they make others wait for them. These late-niks may not even be aware of their anger.

If you truly want to defeat your chronic lateness, you have to WANT to be on time.
If it bothers you that you can not be on time, think how it probably infuriates others who are always waiting for you.

The below may help defeat lateness and be a victory for not only you, but for others as well.

Keep a date book
Carry it with you. Writing down appointments makes them real.

Factor Lateness into your day
Create a buffer. Plan to leave 10 or 15 minutes earlier than the appointment or when meeting someone. Get ready a bit sooner than you think you need to.

Have confidence in your future
If you steal time to send one last email or do one last chore, you're really saying you're not sure there's enough time for your life. Try to walk out on loose ends and take care of it another time. Don't let those things control you

Put Yourself in their shoes
Imagine it is you waiting on people. How would you feel? Does it create anxiety? How does it feel to think time doesn't matter to you?

Balance your Imbalances
If you have a partner or friend who are punctual, recruit them to help you.

Wear a watch
Get in the habit of looking at your watch when you know you have somewhere to be.

Take time for yourself
If you have trouble creating realistic schedules and sticking to them, try meditation or sit quietly with yourself and focus. Yoga or an exercise may help also.

Protect Your Good Name

I am a big fan of Montel Williams (I'm so upset his show is going off the air next week) and watching his show a couple weeks ago on Living Well, I learned about a company...LifeLock that protects consumers from Identity Theft. The representative he had on the show explained in detail how the company works. Montel fully endorsed this company and praised them for the outstanding protection they have provided to many people.

This information came alittle too late for me because I was already a victim this past year.I can honestly say the situation cost me alot of stress, time and money to straighten it out.

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in America, victimizing over 10 million people a year and costing billions of dollars.

Did you know that stolen identities are used up to 30 times, with most victims only discovering the theft after they've been turned down for a loan or contacted by a collection agency. You may already be a victim, many times over, and not even know it

How LifeLock Protects You:

1. They ask the credit bureaus to set free fraud alerts on your behalf. Then every 90 days or so they ask the credit bureaus to do it again.

2. LifeLock requests that your name be removed from pre-approved credit card and junk mail lists and they keep making the requests as they expire. Statistics show that this is one of the many ways that thieves hijack identities.

3. Then they order free credit reports on your behalf from the major credit bureaus and they are sent directly to you. They do this every year.

Their monitoring package:

* scanning known criminal websites for the illegal selling or trading of your personal information (including your Social Security number, credit card number, driver’s license and email address, if provided) and informs you when something is found.

* notifies you when we detect any new address information associated with your name in address databases nationwide. This helps alert you if a criminal has changed your address to steal mail and obtain your financial information.
If your Identity is stolen while you are a member of LifeLock, they do whatever it takes to recover your good name,

LifeLock spends up to $1,000,000 to do it...that's their guarantee

10 Ways You Can Manage Stress

I do not believe anyone can honestly say that stress hasn't affected your life from time to time. Some people are chronic stressers...Stress can affect our life deeply and that includes are health as well.

Here are some tips from Ediets that can help manage your stress

1. Be clear on what you want and stay committed when going for it. Don't get sideswiped by all the little things that come up. Prioritize what must be done -- then do them one at a time. Set boundaries and say NO to those things that are not truly important to you right now.

2. Ask for help! You don't need to do it alone! Sometimes you may need more support than a friend can provide. There are professionals out there and lots of self-help resources. You don't need to be a Lone Ranger -- even he had Tonto!

3. Deal with what is within your control. If it's outside your control, don't worry about it. Look at what is within your control and decide what you can do to create positive change. Be realistic in what you can do: rather than picking 10 things to work on, pick one or two. Give yourself small steps to take to effect change, and celebrate the changes you make!

4. Take care of you! A bubble bath, a 10-minute walk on your coffee break, a massage -- you are your greatest asset. Ensure you are taking care of yourself. Exercise, eat right, hydrate and get your sleep! How we treat our body, mind and spirit affects our emotions, behaviors, actions and results. Take good care of you.

5. Keep a journal. Write whatever you choose and however you want. Just write! Write whatever is on your mind, what your successes are for the day and finish off by writing at least five things that you are grateful for that day.

6. Breathe! When we are stressed, our breath is shallow and we don't get enough oxygen. So take a breath break whenever you think of it and take some deep belly breaths. Concentrate on your breathing. Better yet, take a mini-vacation -- visualize you're on the beach in Maui or somewhere else that calms you while you're on your breath break!

7. Relax! Find a relaxation technique and use it! Listen to some great music or a relaxation or meditation CD. Meditate. Go for a walk. It may seem strange at first, but keep at it!

8. Let go of expectations! It's when our expectations and reality don't match that we get into that really stressed state!

9. Act rather than react! Start recognizing your thoughts. When you start to get upset, stop! Breathe! Ask yourself whether you want to go down that road. Will it get you the desired result you want? If not, change directions.

10. Be compassionate with yourself -- treat yourself as your own best friend! Don't get down on yourself for what you aren't doing, acknowledge yourself for what you are doing and celebrate your successes.

Entrepreneurs...What Happens During a Recession?

Many businesses perk up during a prosperous economy. They're willing to take risks when the chances of success are high. But what happens during a recession?

Well, if you are an entrepreneur, this is your time to get a plan in motion and succeed.

A lot of business owners handle a recession by working harder. They seem to believe that lowering their prices is the way to go. They may also cut their marketing and customer loyalty budgets. These are possibly the wrong things to do in a recession.

Most entrepreneurs understand and realize that you need to follow-up and be consistent. Following up with all your prospects and customers is very important.

You need to analyze your customers to see who is buying and what marketing messages are working best for you.

Keeping accurate contact records so you can do your follow up.

Look to your partners and affiliates to keep your sales growing. Provide assistance whenever and whenever possible.

Build better relationships with prospects and customers and provide superior customer service

During a recession, most business owners are in caution mode and fear losing their sales and even possibly their business.

As an entrepreneur, be serious about your growth potential.Stop worrying about what the economy is doing and develop your marketing plan. Don't immediately drop prices on your products. Remember to follow up on all prospects.

Set yourself apart from the other business owners...

Being Budget Conscious

I think now a days everyone is being more budget conscious with the cost of living on the rise. We are spending more money on food, gas and all our other needs.

In a time where I believe people want to save money where and when they could, one way is how we make our telephone calls.

You can save as much as 80% or more over regular long distance providers like at&t, sprint, etc when using an international phone card .

Phone cards offers a low-cost alternative to other methods of placing telephone calls. These cards allow you to remain within your spending limits. You are also able to use these prepaid phone cards from almost any phone, so you can use your phone card no matter where you are.

When use your regular telephone service, you can end up with a larger-than-expected long distance phone bill at the end of the month, but you cannot go over your budget with a pre-paid phone card.

At PhoneCardsAvenue their rates are so low and they offer so many discounts and services, you might even end up having the card last more than a month and save you even more money! They provide you with the top selling calling cards, now offering a spring break sale, include monthly specials, provide an easy way to purchase your card in three steps, so you can use your card immediately. You can also be guaranteed a secure online purchase.

Many people are switching to phone cards because they realize how much money they can save by using international phone cards instead of a long distance plan.

You don't need to switch your long-distance carrier to receive the competitive benefits of calling cards. Some long-distance phone companies even charge an additional monthly fee in order to receive a competitive rate. Using a prepaid calling card avoids these monthly fees so you only pay for the time you spend talking.

Human Errors DO Happen in the Hospital

I am very concerned about human error when in the hospital. During my recent stay in the hospital, a few potential errors might have occurred if I wasn't alert and on top of my care. I made sure I was aware and knew about all the medications I was to receive.

May I suggest that if you find yourself in the hospital or a loved one, make sure you get very involved in their care. You can not leave your life totally in the hands of others. You need to look after yourself.

I wrote a more in depth post on my other blog...A Circle of Women ~ Human Error While in the Hospital and included some Important Tips that you should be aware of.

Please read for your safety and for your loved ones.

Convert Your Car to Burn Water & Gas ?

Did you know that you can convert your car or truck to a water-burning vehicle (Water Hybrid)?

I came across this interesting article and with the prices of gas these days, who wouldn't want to do this and save a ton of money? Has anyone tried this method? If so, has it worked and was it very complicated?

Converting your car to burn water and gas is a Do-It-Yourself, affordable and simple technology.
Water is supplemental to gasoline or diesel fuel.It is said that you can double fuel economy and many more people said they have doubled or even tripled their mileage.

Too good to be true?

I don't know...it is said to be very simple to install and/or remove.

It's suppose to boost the performance of your vehicle while preventing smog and generate free energy in your car or truck.

You don't change your engine or computer. A quart-size (95O cc) container is placed somewhere under the hood. You fill it with dostilled water and a little bit of baking soda. The device gets vacuum and electricity (12 Volts) from the engine, and produces HHO gas (Hydrogen+Oxygen
The electrical connection is very simple - this company eliminated the need to use relays or any other complications. The device connects to the 12 Volts of your battery via the ignition switch, to prevent hydrogen production when the engine is off. The device is fuse protected and draws very little current, only 1-3 Amps. This could take 10 minutes or less to connect.

Well, if you are interested in converting your car to burn water and gas and save some money, check out it HERE.

Please let me know if you try this and how it works for you.

Passing a Great Find To You

I'm still recuperating from illness, so being home and not being able to go out and shop has left me to do all my shopping online. I have to say it is a great convenience and I have been finding all kinds of great offers and bargains. This might become a habit and I may never go to the mall again!

I've been looking to replace my eye glass frames and also looking for a great pair of sunglasses.I decided on prescription sunglasses to give my eyes a break from wearing contact lenses all the time. I found this company that is offering an unbelievable $ 8 Zenni Optical Rx Eyeglasses . Knowing the prices of a new pair of lenses and frames, I had to look into this further to see if it was true.

What I found is that at http://www.ZenniOptical.com all complete glasses come with Thin and Light 1.57 index lens, Anti Scratch Coating, Full UV Protection, Lens edge polishing and beveling, Quality Hard Eyeglass case, Microfiber Lens Cleaning Cloth and a Full Guarantee. Their inventory consists of rimless, half rim, full rim and variable dimension frames for women, men and even children. Their shipping is a flat $4.95 no matter how many pair of glasses you order.

I learned that ZenniOptical manufactures their own frames, so this is why they are able to sell direct to the customer. With really no overhead or middlemen, they pass on these great savings to their customers.

I thought it would be hard to order lenses online, but I found the ordering process was easy. You chose your lens and there is a very detailed page to help you with the rest of your order. It was a snap and I can't believe I will be now able to get new lenses without spending a few hundred dollars.

Check it out.
