The More You Read, The More You Learn

Why learning is important..."It is critical that a company create the kind of environment in which people really believe they can learn, grow, and prosper. The focus has to be on developing people."

Farmers and Ranchers: Good For The People

The American Farmers and Ranchers of today produce an abundance of food, fiber, flowers, fish, forest products, forage and fuel. The American consumers are offered these products at prices that are among the lowest in the world. We do export some of these products, which helps feed people around the globe.

It is said that one American farmer produces enough food to feed more than 144 people. Most of the food we eat is produced right in the United States, so we are not paying other countries to send it to us.

Other countries are not as abundant in soil and water as the US, but we really need to protect out natural resources and not take them for granted. It is as simple as this: If natural resources are depleted at a faster rate than they can replenish themselves, they eventually disappear.

American farmers and ranchers understand that concept and use soil and water conservation practices. There are about 2 billion acres of land in the US. That breaks down to being about 70% privately owned land and most of that land, 1.4 billion acres, is managed by ranchers and/or farmers. More than 92 million acres of land, is privately developed and much of it is owned by homeowners.

We ALL benefit when private landowners care for natural resources because it will ensure that we will have cheap, plentiful food and clean water. So ALL people should help the farmers and ranchers care about these resources.

The farmers and ranchers have made a difference. With help from the Natural Resources Conservation Service, they have reduced the annual soil loss from 5.1 billion tons in 1982 to 1.8 billion tons in 2001. Controlling erosion keeps the land productive and reduces the amount of soil, pesticides, fertilizers and other substances that pollute our water.

Farmers and ranchers have also been helping with the Nation’s energy supply by producing and utilizing renewable resources. They have been using wind and solar energy for years! By producing crops ( corn, wheat, soybeans sugarcane), which contribute to 2 types of biofuel – ethanol and biodiesel, we can find an alternative fuel products instead of pure gasoline.

Things Made With Products Provided by American Farmers and Ranchers
1) Corn provides; food, plastic, cooking oil, cattle feed, diapers, sweeteners, de-icer, packing peanuts, ethanol and cleansing products.
2) Soybeans provide: food, cooking oil, cattle feed, ink, paint stripper, crayons, lubricants, candies, engine oil, hand cleaner, nail polish remover, hair care products, adhesives and biodiesel fuel.
3) Rice provides: food, cattle feed, dog food, Japanese wine
4) Cotton provides: bandages, cooking oil, paint, paper and clothing
5) Pigs provide: bacon, ham, sausage, pork chops, hot dogs and leather
6) Cows provide: milk, cheese, butter, yogurt, ice cream, steaks, hamburgers, beef jerky, leather, film coatings. Medicine and piano keys
7) Trees provide: lumber, turpentine, paper, solvents, oils, medicine, syrup, nuts, mulch, film, chewing gum, nail polish, rocket fuel, make up, tooth brushes and food additives

Fun Cow Facts:
· In one day, 1 cow produces 5.4 gallons of milk or 2 lbs of butter or 4.6 lbs of cheese
· A typical dairy cow weighs 1400 lbs and produces more than 46 lbs of milk per day
· In one day, 1 cow consumes 35 gallons of water, 20 lbs of grain and 35 lbs of hay & Silage
· And for the environment: each dairy cow produces 100 lbs of manure each day.

Agricultural products are very important in our lives and we need to conserve, sustain and improve our natural resources for the future.

Thank you to all the farmers and ranchers.

What is Feng Shui?

You have probably heard of Feng Shui, but do you really know what it is?

Feng Shui is an ancient art and science developed in China more than 3,000 years ago. Feng Shui teaches us how to attract and enhance our life energy. You can accomplish this by balancing the energies of any space to bring you good health and good fortune.

Feng means wind and shui means water. Within the Chinese culture, wind and water have always been associated with good harvest and good health.

So, good feng shui means good fortune and bad fend shui means hardship or misfortune.

Did you know there are Financial power spots within any space?

Prosperity issues are associated with the back left corner of any space. If you stand at your front door and face into the house ~ your wealth area is at the back of the house on the left-hand side.

To find the wealth area of any room:: facing in from the doorway, it's the corner area in the back of the room on the left-hand side.

Will you find and locate the wealth areas at your office, living room, kitchen, and/or bedroom? Now that you can find your money power spots, here are some tips to apply feng shui to those areas:

Clean out any clutter. Getting rid of clutter is one of the most powerful ways to shift energy and allow the energy to move freely.

Fix anything that is broken. If it doesn’t work and if you can’t fix it, remove them so the money spots will work properly.

Use symbols of prosperity. A bowl of coins that you add your spare change into it every day, a "lucky bamboo" plant, or anything that symbolizes success and prosperity to you.

Use colors green and purple. Green symbolizes vitality and growth and purple is the color of wealth

If you neglect your money, it will neglect you, so balance your checkbook monthly and pay your bills on time

Clean the clutter out of your purse and wallet. If your money is not organized and is just crunched any old way, it will be as though you don’t value money.

Take a few moments every day to think about all the good things that happened to you and express gratitude for what you have received.

Live generously. Since money is a form of energy, it needs to flow through your life, not just into it. If you hoard and scrimp, it will work against more money coming in. Giving generously within your means will make space for greater abundance. If you don't have money to share, give as generously as you can of your time, energy, compassion, and appreciation.

The Feng Shui wealth area is considered "fortunate blessings”. The more you notice, appreciate, and express gratitude for blessings received, no matter how small, the more good things will come your way, including money.

Being Thankful on Thanksgiving

Today as we celebrate Thanksgiving with our families and friends, will you truly take time out to reflect on what you are thankful for?

I have been doing that quite often this year. Pretty much on a daily basis...being thankful. For my health, for my life, for all I have, my family and friends, the opportunities that come my way and the love that surrounds me.

Abundance can be brought into your life if you declare to the universe that you are thankful. This can easily be done on a daily basis. I find that I'm in a better mood when I take time to appreciate something that makes me happy and be thankful for it. My heart seems to fill with happiness...

What are you thankful for?

I think many, many people take for granted what they have in their life. Maybe focusing only on the negatives...the problems, the stresses, the little things that may annoy or aggravate you. We might forget what we have and appreciate them.

Count your blessings. Take a moment each day and be thankful for something in your life. As you're driving in your car or sitting quietly by yourself, even while watching TV... just take a minute and be thankful.

As you see something that excites you or makes you feel good, as you smell food cooking, drive to work, come home to family, enjoying the company of friends or even your pet, your many possessions, your health and so on...be thankful!

Some people are not blessed as you and I are. Many have worse problems or live in worse conditions and/or simply do not have all that we have.

Take a break during your day...starting today...and be thankful and count your blessings...ask the universe for more of what makes you happy. Be positive and say...I like this...bring more more!

May you all enjoy your Thanksgiving. Many blessings to you all

Take Time to Reflect On The Past Year

2008 will be here in just a few days. I can’t believe how fast time is going by. I guess my mother was right when she said... "wait til you get older, time will fly by". How true!

Instead of just focusing on how you will ring in the New Year…who you will kiss at midnight or which party you are going to…look back over the past year and remember.

Remember accomplishments, regardless of how small. Remember to count your blessings and remember to be thankful. Some of us might have experienced some hard times, difficult situations or even losing loved ones, but all and all, you (we) are alive and still have many things to be grateful for. My usual saying comes to mind… things can always be worse.
And, they could be.

Did you learn from making a mistake or two? Mistakes can be a very useful learning tool, as long as you do learn from them.

Congratulate yourself if you made a positive change in your life that you will carry over into the New Year. Be proud of yourself for starting a new business, taking a chance, any new lessons learned.

Did you find a new way to make money? Continue with your efforts into the new year and don't give up! Be thankful the opportunity come to you.

Did you join a charity? Volunteer your time? Work on becoming a better person? If you answered yes to any of those... be proud of yourself. Remember that you gave your time, gave a bit of yourself to help someone else, gave yourself time to focus on personal growth.

We take so many things for granted. If you look back over the past year, you will find many things to be positive about.

Here's to 2008, which I hope is an even better year for all of us. Wishing all good health, much wealth, loving friends and family, true happiness and peace.

Cheers!
